hi, if you signed up on yahoo.fr, you may stuck with the .fr. you might try going into "my account" and changing your "preferred content" settings to usa, if you're interested in the language settings and features.
if you're in .fr, you get all the local french features if you're on .fr
if you want .com because you're here in the states, you might want to sign up for a new account. to keep the old mail coming to the new one, pop the old email into your new account.
you may have to sign up for the free pop email for your french account first.

If you want a .com email address, but still want to use your .fr account, the best way is to pay the $20 for yahoo mail plus. then you can forward the .com email to your .fr domain. Report It
You can have this option if you pay for Yahoo premium package.
